EXPLORATORY STUDY FOR THE IDENTIFICATION OF DORMANT TRYPANOSOMA CRUZI BY ANTIBODIES
Introdução
Chagas disease is caused by the etiological agent Trypanosoma cruzi (T. cruzi), which is part of a group of neglected tropical diseases. Persistence of the protozoan was identified, which resists the prolonged use of medication and, consequently, what may cause the inefficiency of the treatment. This dormant or quiescent parasite can change to an active state, being able to spread the disease. In this transitory phenomenon of the parasite there are still gaps in the possible characteristics involving the process.
Objetivo (s)
Our research focuses on the identification of dormant amastigotes by monoclonal antibodies in the different strains of T. cruzi.
Material e Métodos
Here, we have performed an exploratory assay of immunofluorescence with monoclonal antibodies mAb 3C9, mAb 2C2, mAb 5E7, mAb 3F6, and with the marker EdU (5-ethynyl-2′-deoxyuridine).
Resultados e Conclusão
Our data shows that monoclonal antibodies recognize molecules from the surfaces of intracellular amastigotes forms in replication and in dormancy, with a surprising recognition of molecule Gp90-metacyclic in amastigote. Therefore, this preliminary result potentiates evidence for further studies to a better understanding of the biology of this parasite.
